Pasta with Squash and Spicy Sausage

Trying to use up some pantry items and used up some summer squash and spicy sausage by making it part of a pasta sauce.
After adding pasta sauce from a jar.
And the macaroni.
Tasty with a bit of spice.

BIY Chicken Bone Broth

I caught some kind of virus and have been down for the count for the last week.  I can't remember when I have spent a week in bed with no desire to do anything including watching tv, crafting, or reading.

I subsisted on bone broth, toast, and eggs for most of the week with my appetite coming back near the end.  I ran out of my pork bone broth and had no more bones in the freezer for another batch so when I went in for an acupuncture treatment, I purchased one of the chicken kits.
I pulled out the contents and it has two packages - one of chicken bones and another for vegetables and spices.
Into the crock pot it went with a gallon of water.
2 hours on high and 18 hours on low and the entire house smelled really good which must meant the smell was overwhelming since my nose was not working well.

Rich broth and tasty even with defective taste buds.  I'm glad that this happened during the week I was not traveling.  It would have been terrible to be laid up and not at home in my own bed.

Food and Shopping with Grace

Spent the day with Grace starting for breakfast at Isabel's Cantina where we shared an apple sausage burrito and an artichoke scramble.
Then we hit the Seabreeze nail salon for pedicures and a manicure.

Off to Nordstroms for some shopping with a break for a Godiva soft serve cone.

Stops at Marukai and Mitsuwa for slippers and finally, Kula for dinner.
We took dishes from the conveyor and also special ordered some dishes.  My favorite was the red snapper.
Disposal of 15 dishes earned us a prize of a little magnet of tomago sushi.
Fun day but tiring!

Japanese Jelly Soap

Grace was nice enough to use all her cash to purchase some jelly soap from Japan.

There are 5 different kinds and there is no way to order on line.  Here is a video of the soaps.

The soaps are sealed and wrapped in a cloth bag.
Each flavor has a different covering.
The soap has to be placed in a container to keep it moist.  The texture after washing is just amazing.

Quilt Pieces Laid Out

I pulled out all the pieces for my Glacier Star quilt and laid them out on the spare bed.
I have it all arranged so the flying geese are in some kind of random order.  Now to start piecing them all together.

I still need to sew all the pieces of the outer border that increases the quilt to a queen size.

I think it is looking pretty good.

Dinner at Great Maple

Met a friend from Los Angeles for dinner since he was in town for work.  Went to Great Maple and shared the spinach and pear salad and tried out the flatbread.
It was weird to have the egg on top, but it was tasty.

We also hit the gelato place before heading back to the hotel.  Great to catch up.
