It was a busy week catching up with work after my fabulous vacation. It took me quite a while to get through all the e-mails and work assignments and get everything organized.
A few highlights from the weekend...
My blog swap giftee received her swap package and she blogged about it here. It will be interesting to see what Sara has to say about her packages.
I spent saturday spinning with my peeps. It was a beautiful day and I was able to spin up the Fondle This! June project of 5 ounces of Falkland which was very lovely to spin. It had been quite a while since I was at the spinning wheel and I was happy to be able to get right back to it. I also signed up for the spinning class at Helix Adult School which will be starting up on September 8. I have missed the class and am looking forward to spinning every week.
I also got my knitting mojo back and started a Knit-a-Long (KAL) for the Schieffelin Point Shawl which is sponsored by the Shepherdess Bead Store in San Diego. I also started the 7 small shawls project with the Merope pattern. I know I need to work on my works in progress, but it is exciting to work on new projects!
I spent the day at my best friend's house catching up on the latest news and we are planning on spending all next weekend working on my new quilting projects.
I also received a $40 check from the San Diego Fair for my blue ribbon winning knit projects. I'll hopefully be picking up my knitted items this coming week.

Blog Swap
I joined a blog swap on Ravelry. A swap is where you send items to someone else and get some items in return. This swap is a little different in that the person you are sending stuff to is not the person who is sending stuff to you - it is a entirely different person.
Since it is fiber related, we were asked to fill out a questionnaire and then the choosing began. The person I received as a giftee has a blog and has been knitting for a while and started spinning a little while ago.
The rules required sending 7 items so you could blog about a package a day for a week to increase writing on your blog. Since I don't have too much problem with that aspect, I thought it would be a cool experiment.
The $40 package has to include:
- Must Haves: 100g of yarn, knitting notions, embellishments, and a pattern
- Other Options: something handmade, treats, magazine, stationery, and something to photo for the blog.
Since my giftee has just started spinning, I decided to include some fiber of various types for testing. When I started spinning, it was great to sample small amounts of fiber to see whether I liked to spin before buying. Of course, we all know what happened to that....
Here are the packages all wrapped up. It will be fun I think to open a package a day and see what is there and then write about what you would like to do with it.
Since it is all a surprise, I am excited to see what will be coming in the mail. The deadline for sending the package is September 26th.
