I started knitting this shrug back in November when I signed up for a Craftsy workshop. I think it was a free workshop when I signed up but there is a fee associated with it now.
A workshop from Craftsy is different from a class. The workshop does not have any video, just pictures with instructions and a pattern to make one item. In this case it was a shrug.
I dug around my stash and found some leftover Bernat Soy yarn in the celery color and thought I had enough to finish in the size I chose.
Halfway through the knit, I had a problem understanding what was going on and it went into the UFO (unfinished objects) bin until this month when I was searching for some stuff.
I pulled it out and in the time that it was resting, comments and questions were posted to the workshop and I got an answer to my issue and I started knitting it again.
When I separated the sleeves onto waste yarn, I decided to try it on and I could barely get the sleeve openings around my fat arms. I had to tink back and add many more stitches to the body before separating the sleeves again.
One problem with adding more stitches to increase the size is (you guessed it), I did not have enough yarn to finish the project. On a search, this yarn is no longer being sold so I went into Ravelry and looked through people's stashes and found some skeins for sale or trade. When I queried, an awesome Raveler offered to send me another skein. A lifesaver for sure - why oh why do I have this impediment always?
Now it is a waiting game for the yarn to get here so I can work on the sleeves. I used Jenny's super stretchy bind off for the body and it is super stretchy and I think it will be a perfect fit.
Here is the front.
And the back.

Socks Now Number Three
I have finished my third pair of socks - the Wavelength, that I started with the Sock Addicts at the Needlecraft Cottage. It is my first pair of socks that fit with a design instead of just being plain.
I had posted about the sock start here where it was a fail. I persevered through the patterning and used a slipped stitch heel and finished up with a 1x1 rib for the cuff.
I bound off using Peggy's stretchy bind off but once they came off the needles, the bound off cuff was not stretchy - false advertisement!
I had to tink back three rows to give me enough yarn (I mistakenly thought I was done so I cut the yarn) and used Jenny's super stretchy bind off and the sock are now done!
The next sock for the Addicts is the Diamond Gansey socks by Wendy Johnson from her book Socks from the Toe Up. I plan on using some grey Baah! yarn.

Knitting a Sock with Cat Bordhi
I was extremely lucky to take a class with Cat Bordhi on knitting socks. The class was held at Yarning For You, a local yarn shop (well not that local to me) but close enough to spend a whole day there.
Cat walked us through the New Pathways sock architecture and we knit a baby sock with a garter toe. But she first had us practice the heel.
Here is my result - I did one heel turn and then picked up the stitches on the other side and knit another heel. The result was a little cap for a water bottle.
We then moved to discussing sock architecture and Cat has a great big sock to illustrate the different parts where changes are happening. The colored areas are where changes occur.
Next, we started to knit a baby sock. I used some of the left over yarn I had from the Bosnian slipper sock and used US 4 needles.
Here is my baby sock with Cat's book. I used Judy's Magic Cast On and Jenny's Stretchy Bind Off with Cat's knitted sock instructions. It takes a village.
Cat has a new book out that is only available in an ebook format. It is called Cat's Sweet Tomato Heel Socks and is available for purchase now.
Cat also has a great mobius hat called Anemone and here I am modeling it with Cat. It was a great class with mind blowing tips. If you have a chance to take a class with her, I highly recommend it.
Of course, I had to shop at the store and they had a model of the Whippoorwill using Frog Tree Pediboo sock yarn. I got the pattern and colors in green and brown for my next project.
