Supper Club

It has been a little while since Supper Club had met so Janet hosted this weekend after moving into her new place.  The theme of dinner was a Fall Cabin Retreat Menu.

We started with an appetizer of Red Pepper Cheese dip.
We then moved on to Amy's Savory Beet Soup.
Janet decided to substitute the main dish for the chicken with 40 cloves of garlic.
With garlic wine sauce
We rounded out the plate with Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges which were really easy to make.
We had a discussion between sweet potatoes and yams.  Everyone was expecting that fall orange color of the yams but I followed the recipe and bought sweet potatoes which looks like potatoes.  Kim contemplated making these for her boys and tricking them into thinking they are fries.

Janet also added some greens in a salad since we were missing some color on the plate.
We finished off the meal with Kim's version of Pumpkin Orange Cake.  She modified the recipe and you can find her Pumpkin Spice Cake here on her blog.
It was another successful meal for our supper club that has been in existence since September 2001.  We have had people come and go and come back and some times we didn't meet for a while.  It was amazing the number of things we could talk about during dinner as we caught up on each other's lives.  It is a great sense of community and friendship.

Kim will be hosting our next get together and I can't wait.
